در این گونه مثالها ، همان طور که می بینید معادل صفت مرکب در فارسی موجود و ساختاری مانوس به نظر می رسد.
1) The Syrian – controlled part of Beka valley has been attacked by Israeli planes. حال به این مثال توجه کنید:
ترجمه ی تحت اللفظی : قسمت سوریه ای کنترل شده دره بقا مورد حمله هواپیماهای اسرائیلی قرارگرفته است.
این ترجمه نامفهوم و غیر طبیعی است و بنابر این به جای چنین ترکیبی یک عبارت توصیفی یا توضیحی به کار می بریم.
« آن قسمت از دره بقا که تحت کنترل سوریه است مورد حمله ی هواپیماهای اسرائیلی قرار گرفته است .» این ترجمه با توجه به زیر ساخت جمله انگلیسی آن صورت گرفته است.شکل اولیه و خلاصه نشده آن در انگلیسی چنین است.
The part of Beka valley which is controlled by Syria has been attacked by Israeli planes.
2) The rain-delayed match will be played tomorrow.
ترجمه ی تحت اللفظی : این مسابقه باران به تاخیر افتاده فردا انجام می شود.
ترجمه ی صحیح و روان : این مسابقه که به علت بارندگی (بارانی بودن هوا) به تاخیر افتاده بود فردا انجام می شود.
3) The fatally –wounded lion attacked anyone in this way.
ترجمه ی تحت اللفظی : شیر به طرز مهلک زخمی شده به هر کس بر سر راهش حمله می کرد.
ترجمه ی صحیح و روان : شیر که زخم مهلکی برداشته بود به هر کسی که بر سر راهش واقع می شد حمله می کرد.
