What is MOOD?

The mood of a verb is : the characteristic of a verb that shows the manner in which a statement is regarded by the writer.

ویژگـــی فعل است که نشان می دهد چطور نویسنده ای طرز و روش وقوع فعلی را در جمله لحاظ کرده است.

Mood به سه نوع تقسیم می شود:

1)      Indicative mood حالت خبری و پرسشی فعل 

2)    Imperative mood حالت امری فعل

3)    Subjunctive mood حالت شرطی فعل

Indicative mood = form of a verb used to make a statement or ask a question

شکل فعلی است که برای جمله های خبری و پرسشی استفاده می شود.

She drives well.

Is she driving now?

Imperative mood = verb construction used in giving commands

ساختار فعلی است که برای امر کردن به کار می رود.

Subjunctive mood = form of a verb used to express doubts , possibilities , desires , and conditions contrary to the fact.

ساختار فعلی است که برای بیان تردید ، احتمال ، خواسته ها ، و موقعیت هایی که بر عکس وضع موجود است.

I doubt that she will ever become a chairperson.

If he were here, this problem would vanish.

اگر این جا بو د ، این مشکل نبود.
